DOAJ Seeks Diverse Advisory Board Members to Shape the Future of Open Access

The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) has announced an open call for nominations to form its new Advisory Board, inviting applications from professionals across the global scholarly community. Up to 25 members will be selected to provide strategic guidance, ensuring DOAJ’s initiatives align with the needs of open-access stakeholders worldwide.

Who Can Apply?

DOAJ encourages nominations from individuals representing its core stakeholder groups:

  • Librarians (supporting OA infrastructure)
  • Publishers (journals/platforms committed to transparency)
  • Funders (advocating for equitable research dissemination)
  • Researchers & Data Users (engaged with OA metadata and tools)

Candidates should reflect geographic, disciplinary, and gender diversity to strengthen DOAJ’s mission of inclusivity.

Role of the Advisory Board

Members will:

     ✓ Advise the DOAJ Foundation Board on policy and strategy
     ✓ Help shape standards for open-access best practices
     ✓ Foster global engagement with DOAJ’s services

How to Nominate

Interested candidates may self-nominate by submitting their details via DOAJ’s official portal before 30 April 2025. Nominations will be reviewed by the DOAJ Foundation Board.
